Apple could adopt Google’s Gemini AI to bolster its Siri overhaul, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The refreshed Siri will include an AI-powered web search feature but has been postponed until 2026, as Apple works to determine whether its in-house models can compete with platforms from OpenAI, Google, and Perplexity.

Per Bloomberg, Apple and Google struck an agreement this week to test Gemini within Siri. If integration proves successful, the model could also enhance Safari and Spotlight search functions.

Spotlight once positioned itself as an alternative to Google for quick facts, but AI chatbots now provide faster, broader answers. Apple’s partnership with Google signals a new push to catch up.

The planned Siri upgrade will feature AI-generated summaries, multimedia search, and localized recommendations. It will also draw on personal data for tailored results and enable expanded voice navigation.
