Google doubles down on ‘AI phones’ with its Pixel 10 series
The Pixel 10 series launches with a strong focus on AI, positioning Google ahead of Apple in smartphone innovation. Revealed at the Made by Google event, the devices offer AI-driven enhancements across photography, communication, and personal productivity.
Building on the Pixel 9’s AI capabilities such as Gemini Live, Google says live conversations have become five times longer than text interactions. New Pixel 10 features include Visual Overlays, Magic Cue, Camera Coach, Voice Translate, Take a Message, and Pixel Journal.
Visual Overlays enables the AI to see the user’s perspective and offer guidance, while Magic Cue proactively suggests actions across apps. Camera Coach provides photography tips, Auto Best Take selects optimal shots, and Ask Photos allows AI-based editing.
Voice Translate offers real-time translations in multiple languages, and Take a Message generates transcripts with actionable suggestions. Pixel Journal tracks progress, encourages reflection, and provides AI-generated insights.
Additional updates include AI tools in Gboard, improved screenshots in Pixel Studio, and Notebook LM integration for enhanced productivity. The Tensor G5 chip powers all these AI features with Gemini Nano.
