Google’s new AI feature lets you virtually try on clothes

On Thursday, Google introduced its newest AI innovation: a virtual try-on feature that allows customers in the U.S. to preview clothing on their own bodies. The functionality appears across major Google platforms including Search and Shopping.
Shoppers can tap into the feature by uploading a full-length image of themselves after selecting a compatible product listing. The AI renders a visual of what the clothing would look like on the individual user. Items can then be bookmarked and shared.
This development expands on Google’s earlier efforts to present apparel on a diverse range of models. Now, the tech firm is prioritizing hyper-personalization, bringing the virtual dressing room directly to users’ screens.
The update is part of a broader AI-driven expansion of Google Shopping. The company is also improving its price alert features and will soon roll out generative AI tools that recommend outfit ideas or room setups. Another experimental app, Doppl, provides shoppers with more immersive previews, including animated outfit demos.
